I was absolutely thrilled when the lovely Karwendel Doula, Pia, reached out to me because she needed photos for her website and social media content.

What a fascinating and incredibly beautiful profession, or really more of a calling, that many people still do not know much about, but that is becoming more and more important for expectant parents. So I simply checked Wikipedia for a quick definition for you.

What is a doula?

Wikipedia says: A doula (from Ancient Greek δούλη doúle, meaning “female servant,” “maid”) is a non-medical support person. She supports an expectant mother emotionally and physically before, during, and after birth.

Doesn’t that sound wonderful? A person who plays such a big and important role for expecting moms, and someone in whom deep trust is placed.

Business Photos, But Not Boring

That is exactly why it was so important to Pia that her images truly reflect who she is. The business photos should not feel boring, but real and natural. Ideally, potential clients should already be able to feel, just by looking at the images, how much love and passion Pia brings to her work as a doula, because she is closely involved during one of the most important times in a woman’s life.

Pia prepares women for birth and supports them during the first phase of life with their baby. Her business photos therefore needed to convey trust, while also showing joy in this important role. They should radiate a love of life, but also calmness and a grounded, inward presence. The images should show details from her daily work, as well as her services, such as prenatal yoga, personal consultations and informational sessions, and the preparation of Blessingway ceremonies.
